WASHINGTON — Bipartisan trade promotion authority (TPA) legislation to establish concrete rules for international trade negotiations has been introduced in Congress.
The Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act outlines congressional negotiating objectives that any administration — Republican or Democrat — must follow when entering into and conducting trade talks with foreign governments.
The legislation also requires that Congress have information about pending trade deals and that the public receive detailed updates and full details of trade agreement well before they are signed.
