GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The outbreak of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus has continued its assault on egg laying facilities in Iowa and extended its reach down the Mississippi flyway to wild birds in Kentucky.
Kentucky marks the 14th state affected by the virus since it first appeared in the U.S. in December 2014.
An initial attack on Iowa's egg laying industry, confirmed April 15 by USDA's Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service, reached 3.8 million layers in Osceola County. . .
