BOXMEER, the Netherlands — Hendrix Genetics announces that it has acquired 100 percent of the shares of Pintobar Exploração Avícola Lda. The acquisition marks a key step in Hendrix Genetics’ long-term commitment to the Iberian egg and poultry industry, strengthening its local production footprint and enhancing its ability to serve customers across Portugal, Spain and export markets, the company said in its announcement.

Hendrix Genetics and Pintobar have worked together for many years, building a strong partnership to supply egg and poultry producers with high-quality genetics and technical support, Hendrix noted, adding that the acquisition builds on this long-standing relationship and creates new opportunities to further enhance operational excellence, customer service, and supply security throughout the region.

Founded in 1982, with roots in poultry production dating back to the 1960s, Pintobar operates breeder rearing facilities, hatching egg production farms and hatcheries, supplying customers in Portugal and international markets. Throughout its history, the company has earned a reputation for technical expertise, product quality and reliability, supported by continuous investment in production technology and an experienced team. Pintobar generates annual revenues of approximately €20 million and employs around 125 people.

“Pintobar has been a valued and trusted partner for many years,” Pelayo Casanovas, Hendrix Genetics managing director Layers & Broilers Business Unit, said in a statement. “This acquisition reinforces our long-term commitment to the Iberian market and reinforces our commitment to customers across the Iberian region. Together, we will continue to invest in people, production and innovation to support the long-term success of poultry producers.”
“We are proud of what Pintobar has achieved over the past decades,” Eduardo Fraga, Pintobar general manager, said. “Joining Hendrix Genetics represents an important next step that creates new opportunities for our employees, customers and business partners while preserving the values and expertise that have made Pintobar successful.”

Customers, suppliers and business partners can expect a seamless transition with full continuity of operations, the companies noted and added that the existing leadership team and employees will remain integral to the business, ensuring uninterrupted customer service, technical expertise, and reliable product supply throughout the integration process.
