WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Shell Egg Academy is returning with an in-person event Sept. 27-29, with Purdue University Extension. Registration is now open.
SEA will provide interactive class sessions on egg quality and food safety for farmers and egg companies producing and processing table eggs. A new-and-improved three-day schedule provides a deeper dive for companies looking for training on:
- Shell egg food safety on the production side
- Sanitation
- Foodborne illness outbreaks
- FDA’s Egg Rule
- Egg quality impacts
- Table egg industry trends from a consumer perspective
SEA will also provide plenty of networking opportunities with industry participants, regulatory agency personnel, and Purdue University animal science students and faculty throughout the event. At the end of each course, participants take an exam to earn a competency certificate.
“The 2021 Shell Egg Academy’s virtual edition provided a high level of information and interaction for participants seeking to further their knowledge about egg quality and egg safety,” said Dr. Darrin Karcher, SEA founder and Associate Professor and Poultry Extension Specialist at Purdue University. “We’re excited to build upon this success and provide this redesigned learning opportunity to fit the needs of the egg industry right now.”
If you pre-registered earlier this year for the in-person SEA that was postponed in April, your registration automatically transfers to the September event at Purdue University.
SEA’s hotel room block at the Holiday Inn City Centre in Lafayette, Ind., is also available online and by phone (765-423-1000) for reservations. Room rate is $139/night. (Please mention “Shell Egg Academy” when booking by phone.)
