SALISBURY, Md. — The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation has awarded a $67,500 grant to Village of Hope to support critical improvements to its transitional housing units for women and children at risk of homelessness and financial instability.

Serving Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Village of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a safe, supportive living environment along with the tools and resources families need to rebuild their lives and move toward long-term stability. Each family who enters the program is working toward independence, often after experiencing housing insecurity, financial hardship, or personal crisis.

To date, Village of Hope has served 353 women and 183 children, the group notes in the announcement, adding that approximately 60 percent of program participants have successfully transitioned to independent living.

This grant will fund essential kitchen upgrades, including new appliances and electrical improvements to ensure residents have a comfortable, functional, safe, and dignified place to call home during their transition.

“This investment will make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of the families we serve,” Annette Johnson, Village of Hope president and CEO, said. “A safe and well-maintained home environment is foundational for healing, stability, and progress. We are deeply grateful to the Perdue Foundation for recognizing the importance of this work and helping us continue to serve families in our community.”

The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving partner of Perdue Farms, supports communities where Perdue associates live and work, with a focus on improving quality of life and strengthening local communities.

“We are honored to continue our support for the Village of Hope and their tireless commitment to providing a sanctuary for those in transition toward self-sufficiency,” Kim Nechay, Perdue Foundation executive director, said. “By funding these essential appliance upgrades, the Perdue Foundation aims to ensure that residents have a modern, functional, and dignified environment as they work toward independence. The Village of Hope is a vital cornerstone of our community, and we are proud to help enhance the life-changing services they provide to our neighbors in need.”

This partnership aligns with Perdue’s Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors® outreach, which focuses on improving quality of life and building strong communities where associates live, work, and raise their families, the company added.

Village of Hope also notes that while this grant will allow it to begin critical upgrades, additional support is needed to fully complete the refurbishment of all housing units. Village of Hope adds that it welcomes tax-deductible donations from individuals, businesses, and community partners who want to be part of helping families rebuild their lives.
