ATLANTA — Jerry Moye, member of the international advisory board at Hendrix Genetics, was named the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association’s Workhorse of the Year during the International Poultry Expo, part of the 2022 International Production & Processing Expo. The poultry industry’s most prestigious honor is awarded annually in recognition of dedicated service and valuable leadership given to the association and poultry industry.
Moye was “collared” with the long-established horse collar by 2020 Workhorse of the Year recipient Mark Waller, sales and processing director for Ingram Farms and past USPOULTRY chairman. He was also presented with a commemorative plaque.
“We are honored to recognize Jerry with this special award and acknowledge his numerous contributions to the poultry industry. We are deeply appreciative of his efforts on behalf of the Association, the USPOULTRY Foundation and the industry,” said Greg Hinton, vice president of sales at Rose Acre Farms, and outgoing USPOULTRY chairman.
Moye graduated with a B.A. in economics from Washington College in Maryland. He is the retired president of Cobb-Vantress Inc. Prior to this role, Moye held the positions of technical service representative, director of technical service, U.S. Division general manager, and senior vice president of operations. Before joining Cobb-Vantress, Moye spent 16 years in integrated chicken production as live production manager for two large U.S. integrators, Showell Farms of Maryland and Zacky Farms of California. His management responsibilities included breeders, hatcheries, broilers and feedmills.
Throughout his time in the poultry industry, Moye has been active in the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY). He is a past chairman of USPOULTRY, having served on the board for 10 years; and he is a current member of the USPOULTRY Foundation board of directors. He also serves on the boards of Circle of Life Hospice and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) of Northwest Arkansas.
“Jerry is one of those individuals, through his volunteerism, who has had not only a tremendous impact on USPOULTRY and our Foundation, but the industry as a whole. We are most grateful for his leadership, his passion to serve the industry and his friendship,” said John Starkey, USPOULTRY president.
