USDA purchases to aid drought-stricken farmers

WASHINGTON — USDA has announced its intent to purchase up to $170 million of pork, lamb, chicken and catfish for federal food nutrition assistance programs, including food banks, to help relieve pressure on U.S. livestock producers during the drought.
