ATLANTA — A black Alabama poultry worker who sued his employer for race discrimination, saying a white supervisor called him "boy," can collect monetary damages awarded by a jury, a federal appeals court ruled in an opinion that reversed its decision last year to throw out the verdict.
The 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Dec. 16 that the use of the word "boy" wasn't enough by itself to prove discrimination at the Tyson Foods plant in Gadsden, Ala., but there was enough other evidence of discrimination to uphold the jury verdict. Judge Ed Carnes. . .
