WASHINGTON — Recalls and public health alerts are two things’ companies don’t want to have to deal with when it comes to their products. Unfortunately, in recent weeks, three companies have had to issue recalls or public health alerts for some of their products.

On June 18, MorningStar Farms, which produces meatless plant-based protein, decided to voluntarily recall two products in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica because of possible plastic pieces in the food, MorningStar stated in the recall announcement.

The recalled products are MORNINGSTAR FARMS Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets (10.5 oz.) and MORNINGSTAR FARMS Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties (8 oz.). No other products were affected by this recall.

The products have sell-by dates from July 5, 2027, to July 8, 2027. The company is urging people who purchased the affected products to discard them and contact the company for a full refund.

On June 25, USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat chicken Caesar wrap products from Taher Inc., Plymouth, Minn., due to possible contamination by Listeria. A recall wasn’t requested because the products are no longer available for purchase, FSIS said in the announcement.

The ready-to-eat chicken Caesar wrap items were produced on June 16, 2026. The following products subject to the public health alert are:

  • 8.7-oz. clear plastic wrapped packages of “FRESH SEASONS Kitchen Chicken Caesar Wrap” with “Sell By:6/24/2026” printed on the back label above the ingredients.

The products bear establishment number “P-45091” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and they were shipped to Holiday convenience stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin, FSIS added.

The possible contamination was discovered during routine FSIS testing that resulted in a sample confirming positive for the presence of the bacteria.

As of June 25, there have been no confirmed reports of illness due to consumption of these products, but anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider.

Also on June 25, FSIS issued a public health alert for raw boneless chicken breast products from FW Farms LLC, Fort Worth, Texas, due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The product contains eggs, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label, FSIS said.

A recall wasn’t issued for these products because they are no longer available for purchase.

The raw honey Dijon boneless chicken breast products were produced on June 2, 2026. The following product subject to the public health alert is:

  • 21-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “PRIVATE SELECTION Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat” with “BEST IF USED BY: JUN 28, 2026” and lot code “15326A” printed on the packaging.

The products bear establishment number “P-45288B” printed on the packaging, and they were shipped to Kroger and Fred Meyer stores in nine different states, FSIS added. Those states are Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon, and Washington.

An employee at one of the stores discovered the problem when they noticed that the wrong label, which contains the ingredient statement, was attached to the back of the product. The store then reported the issue to the producing establishment, who then reported the issue to FSIS.

As of June 25, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, but anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider.
