AUBURN, Ala. — The recent announcement of an avian influenza outbreak in commercial poultry was not good news for the industry based in the southern tier of the United States.
The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed on March 5, 2017, the presence of highly pathogenic H7 avian influenza (HPAI) in a commercial chicken breeder flock in Lincoln County, Tennessee, close to the Alabama state border.
