TIFTON, Ga. — The growing poultry industry has farmers searching for alternative bedding options for their birds. University of Georgia Cooperative Extension poultry scientist Dr. Claudia Dunkley recommends that growers use giant miscanthus grass as bedding in their poultry houses.
The need to find a substitute for traditional bedding, which is made of peanut hulls and pine shavings, has become necessary due to the growth and expansion of Georgia’s poultry industry.
