WASHINGTON — The Chesapeake Bay Program Reauthorization and Improvement Act (H.R. 4153) would greatly improve the Chesapeake Bay and contribute to the health of local farms, ranches and rural economies — all while staying true to the original intent of the Clean Water Act, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.
The bill, introduced by Reps. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Tim Holden (D-Pa.), reauthorizes the bay program, and it reaffirms that states have sole authority to implement rules related to nutrient loads that might make their way into the bay.
