BioLab explosion prompts shelter-in-place in some Georgia cities

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Approximately 90,000 residents of Rockdale, Ga., were forced to evacuate from their homes due to an explosion at a chlorine biolab facility, the Associated Press reported. Some residents around the area were given shelter-in-place orders. The chlorine odor spread to surrounding areas prompting the Atlanta fire department to use detectors to determine if chemicals entered the atmosphere, according to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.
