ATLANTA — The National Protein and Food Distributors Association once again recognized another individual of distinction who leads one of the nation’s top 10 broiler production companies.
Robert C. (Bob) Johnson, House of Raeford Farms CEO and owner, was presented the 2026 NPFDA Lifetime Achievement Award during the association’s recent Annual Convention and Showcase in Atlanta, Ga. Johnson was recognized not only for his leadership in the poultry industry, but also for his life’s work of service to those in need.
Following the family lineage, Johnson’s father, Marvin Johnson, House of Raeford founder, also received the NPFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
“Bob’s career began humbly on the processing line of his family’s turkey operation,” House of Raeford said in announcement. “His leadership shaped not only House of Raeford, but also the broader protein industry, guided by values of integrity, honesty, and trust. Those principles influenced how people work, grown, and serve their communities across the region.”
Extending beyond the company’s more than 70-year history in the chicken and turkey industries, Johnson was instrumental in founding the House of Raeford FLOCK nonprofit in 2010. A charitable organization of the company, FLOCK (Faithful Love Offering for Christ’s Kingdom) provides initiatives such as feeding the hungry, youth development, as well as mental health and addiction recovery program support.
Along with NPFDA, Johnson, a graduate of the University of Mount Olive, has served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Poultry Federation, and the National Chicken Council. He has also been inducted into the NCPF Hall of Fame. Johnson and his wife, Luanne, have three children, all of whom have active roles with House of Raeford.
NPFDA notes that its annual lifetime award recognizes those whose work has had a profound impact on the protein industry’s distribution, marketing and processing segments.
“As House of Raeford and FLOCK continue their work, Bob’s example serves as a guiding light — showing how business, service, and compassion can come together to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” the company added. “His legacy continues to inspire those committed to feeding communities, supporting families, and building a stronger future for the protein sector.”
