EVERGREEN, Ala. -- The Conecuh County, Ala., Health Department announced that a sentinel chicken from the Evergreen area has tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), according to a report from the Alabama Department of Public Health.
Although there have been no human cases reported, the positive chicken indicates the virus is present in certain mosquito populations and has the potential to infect humans.
