WASHINGTON — U.S. corn production for 2012/13 is projected at a record 14.8 billion bushels, up 2.4 billion from 2011/12 with a projected 5.1-million acre increase in harvested area and higher expected yields, compared with 2011/12.
The May 10 USDA World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates projects the 2012/13 corn yield at a record 166 bushels per acre, 2 bushels above the 1990-2010 trend reflecting the rapid pace of planting and emergence.
