GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Georgia facilities of Mar-Jac Poultry have reached a significant safety achievement recently with its announcement of 3 million man-hours worked without a lost time accident. The company attributes this success to a dedication to employee and operational safety and a “culture of accountability.”

Congratulating its employees at all levels for their focus on safety strategies, the company, in its announcement, notes that, “through consistent adherence to safety protocols, ongoing training programs and proactive hazard prevention, the Georgia facilities have established themselves as a model for workplace safety in the poultry industry.”
“This milestone is a testament to the hard work and vigilance of our entire team,” Nathan Mathis, Mar-Jac Poultry human resources director, said. “Safety is not just a priority — it’s a core value.”
“Every employee plays a role in ensuring that we all go home safe at the end of the day, and this achievement shows what’s possible when that commitment is shared across the organization,” Mathis added.
Mar-Jac also said that it plans to continue advancing the successes it has seen with its “culture of care.”
“The company attributes this success to a combination of strong leadership, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives,” Mar-Jac noted. “Regular safety audits, open communication channels, and an employee-driven safety committee have helped foster an environment where risks are identified and addressed before incidents occur.”

Just a few months ago, the company announced that it had reached the milestone of 2 million hours without a lost time accident, for the first time.

“Reaching 2 million man-hours without a lost time accident is an extraordinary milestone and a true testament to the discipline, teamwork, and commitment to safety demonstrated every day by Mar-Jac employees,” Mathis said at the earlier in the year announcement.

Founded in Gainesville, Ga., in 1954 by brothers Marvin and Jack McKibbon, Mar-Jac Poultry today produces approximately 2 million birds, as well as about 8,500 tons of feed a week. The company operates processing plants, hatcheries and feed mills in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.
