WASHINGTON — The National Chicken Council and the National Turkey Federation have said USDA's proposed new poultry inspection system represents the logical next step in modernization to improve food safety and better protect public health.
The views of the two association were made in comments submitted on the proposed change in the inspection system.
"The proposed rule is a modern, sensible approach that will allow the food safety inspectors to focus on public health," said NTF President Joel Brandenberger. "The proposed rule will lead to a revamped inspection system that allows the federal inspectors to shift to prevention-oriented inspection. . .
