WASHINGTON — The USDA Food Safety & Inspection Service and the Food & Drug Administration are partnering on a joint pilot study under the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS) program.
The pilot, to begin January 2013, is for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of Bacterial Isolates of Animal Origins. The purpose is to collect and test cecal samples from bovine, swine, turkey and chicken presented for slaughter in FSIS-inspected plants.
