CSES research examines worker health

KANSAS CITY,  Mo. — Workers in cage-free aviary house were exposed to higher levels of dust and bacteria than those working in conventional or enriched colony housing, according to a preliminary analysis of Flock One research conducted by the Coalition for Sustainable Egg Supply (CSES).

The CSES research findings for Worker Health and Safety, Food Safety and Egg Quality was shared at the coalition's annual meeting on Sept. 25 in Bloomington, Minn.

The findings also showed that egg quality was not impacted by hen housing system. This illustrates the multiple variables that must be considered when evaluating the sustainability. . .
