Winner, winner chicken dinner: Mayors of Gainesville, Marietta, Ga. make high school football wager

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Win or lose, there will be chicken.

Gainesville, Ga., Mayor Sam Couvillon has agreed to a “friendly wager” with Marietta, Ga., Mayor Steve (Thunder) Tumlin on Friday night's football game between Gainesville and Marietta.

The bet: A chicken dinner.

“Poultry is at stake,” Couvillon said before a city commission work session. “The reason we came up with that is, I said, well Mayor, we’re obviously known to be the poultry capitol of the world and his rebut was, ‘Well, we’re known for having the Big Chicken in Marietta.’”
