USDA proposes animal welfare standards for organic label

WASHINGTON — USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service has proposed amending the organic livestock and poultry production requirements to include animal welfare standards.

The proposed changes are based on recommendations by the National Organic Standards Board and incorporate years of public comment and suggestions by stakeholders.
