USDA food safety tips for areas affected by Hurricane Hermine

WASHINGTON – The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued food safety recommendations for those who may have been impacted by Hurricane Hermine.

The National Hurricane Center issued hurricane warnings, tropical storm warnings, hurricane watches and tropical storm watches in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and into the Northeastern U.S., as Hermine made its way through the eastern Gulf of Mexico and up the eastern coast of the nation.

These types of weather forecasts present the possibility of power outages that could compromise the safety of stored food.
