Tyson sued over renewable fuel patent

TULSA, Okla. — Tyson Foods Inc. has been sued by Neste Oil Oyj of Finland for patent infringement in the production of renewable diesel.

The Finnish company filed suit May 29 in the U.S. District Court in Delaware against Dynamic Fuels LLC, a joint venture between Springfield, Ark.-based Tyson and Tulsa, Okla.-based Syntroleum Corp. The suit contends Dynamic Fuels is making a product that violates a new patent for a Neste diesel fuel composition.

The Tyson fuel, produced at a plant in Geismar, La., is made from animal fats, greases and vegetable oils.
