Tyson Foods to close the doors on Iowa pork plant

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — According to a recent USA TODAY report, Tyson Foods is closing a pork packing plant in Perry, Iowa. This comes as a devastating blow to the community. Approximately 1,276 jobs will be lost in this small town. A business spokesperson said in an email, “after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our Perry, Iowa, pork facility.”

The company asks the employees at this plant to apply for other jobs within the company. Tyson still employs 9,000 Iowans residents and has other pork packing plants in the state.

The locations include Waterloo. . .
