Pilgrim’s Pride laying off 85 in Chattanooga

GREELEY, Colo. — Pilgrim's Pride Corp. has announced that it is laying off 85 employees at its poultry processing plant in Chattanooga, Tenn.

In a press release the company said that due to mix changes and operational improvement at other Pilgrim's locations, some processes at the Chattanooga facility are being streamlined to create greater efficiencies across the entire supply change.

The changes are not expected to impact contract growers or customers, as the company plans to continue processing all birds being grown for the Chattanooga complex.
