URBANDALE, Iowa — The Iowa Poultry Association has announced Robert (Bob) G. Riley Jr. as the inductee to the 2017 Iowa Poultry Association Hall of Fame.

“His contributions to Iowa Poultry Association and the entire Iowa poultry industry are well known and appreciated,” said Kevin Stiles, IPA executive director. “Bob has been, and remains, an innovator, collaborator, and tireless champion for Iowa poultry and all of Iowa agriculture.”

Riley has worked for more than 40 years in the fats and oil processing industry in many capacities. He has been involved in domestic and international sales and marketing, laboratory supervision, research and development, as well as executive and corporate management.

In 1986, he purchased Feed Energy and began the process of building a company with products developed on sound research and science. The success of the company is a testament to this strategic approach, the association noted.

“I am proud to receive this award from Iowa Poultry Association, an organization that ‘walks the talk’ on the very positive aspects of modern poultry agriculture, and am happy to be part of the efforts to achieve these goals,” Riley said. “I am pleased IPA is ‘leading the way’ in Iowa agriculture, being good corporate citizens, good environmental stewards, and building great social capital within our communities and in Iowa, where we live and work.”

Riley is also active in many professional, state and community organizations including the Iowa Innovation Corp, which he has chaired. He has been on the IPA board of directors since 2000. He also sits on the board of the Iowa State University Research Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, Simpson College, Whiterock Conservancy, Two Rivers Financial Group and Feed Energy.

Riley is a Des Moines, Iowa, native and enjoys a good game of golf, hunting and fishing trips, the association said, adding that, he and his wife also appreciate sharing time with friends and family, including six grandchildren.
