The Georgia Poultry Federation welcomed Perdue Farms, Wally Hunter, as the new chairman at their 52nd annual spring meeting. Mr. Hunter serves as Director of Operations at Perdue’s, Perry, Georgia offices.
The federation continues their partnership with disease response agencies like the Georgia Department of Agriculture, Georgia Poultry Laboratory Network and the USDA. GPF further expanded avian influenza biosecurity education opportunities and outreach to poultry professionals in the fight against avian influenza.
The All-In campaign has continued to be a big resource for growers in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Former Chairman Jim Shepard of Wayne Farms reiterated these accomplishments at the banquet held on April 29 at Lanier Islands Resorts. He was presented with a plaque and framed portrait to commemorate his service.
Earlier in the weekend, AgGeorgia Farm Credit sponsored family bingo night April 28 with 90 prizes including cash and featured gifts such as a customized crawfish cooker. Saturday a 5K and 1-mile fun/run were held. Sunday featured a church service led by Doug Britton of Georgia Tech.
