WASHINGTON — USDA's Food Safety & Inspection Service is conducting its ninth survey of food defense plans in poultry, egg and meat facilities.
The survey, which closes July 31, 2014, will gather data about industry’s voluntary adoption of a functional food defense plan.
FSIS noted that food defense plans are voluntary, and not mandated by regulation. However, FSIS considers such plans to be an important tool that can reduce the risk of intentional adulteration of food products.
The questions in the food defense plan survey will determine whether official meat and poultry slaughter and processing establishments, egg product plants. . .
