WASHINGTON — The National FFA has presented Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack with recommendations around the upcoming Farm Bill that will encourage more young people to pursue careers in farming.
The recommendations were in response to a challenge issued by Vilsack to the young leaders of the National FFA Organization for ideas which would attract new farmers.
The FFA recommendations fell under four main categories: Getting started in production agriculture; creating vibrant rural communities; who should care about agriculture and why; and planning for the future.
The FFA recommendations said USDA should:
