Effective pest control programs may protect your company from HPAI and other poultry diseases

TUCKER, Ga. — Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) continues to greatly disrupt our industry. Investigations and discussions are ongoing about how it is spreading and how to stop this current outbreak.

Biosecurity programs continue to provide the best prevention mechanism to slow down the virus. Researchers compared epidemiological data from the 2015 HPAI outbreak to the 2022 epidemiological data and noticed that lateral farm to farm spread caused by vehicle traffic, equipment sharing, and human spread is reduced as compared to 2015. This does not mean that lateral transmission has not occurred, but that there is a general acknowledgement that there. . .
