TUCKER, Ga. — Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) continues to greatly disrupt our industry. Investigations and discussions are ongoing about how it is spreading and how to stop this current outbreak.
Biosecurity programs continue to provide the best prevention mechanism to slow down the virus. Researchers compared epidemiological data from the 2015 HPAI outbreak to the 2022 epidemiological data and noticed that lateral farm to farm spread caused by vehicle traffic, equipment sharing, and human spread is reduced as compared to 2015.
