LEXINGTON, Ky. — Alltech has released its 2025 Sustainability Report. The report details Alltech’s commitment to advance the well-being of people, animals and our planet by working closely with its customers and partners throughout the global agri-food chain in more than 140 countries, the company announced.
“Agriculture has always carried a profound responsibility to nourish people, to care for the land and to support the communities that depend on it,” Dr. Mark Lyons, Alltech president and CEO, said. “Today, that responsibility feels greater than ever. We are being asked to produce more, while using fewer resources, and to do so in a way that is both transparent and trusted. At Alltech, we see this as an opportunity for agriculture to lead.”
Sustainability expectations continue to evolve as investors, customers and consumers are calling for greater transparency and measurable impact, the company said, adding that meeting these expectations means reducing environmental impact, but it also means investing in its team members, contributing to communities in the more than 140 countries in which it operates, and operating with integrity at every level of the business.
“As stewards of the land, farmers remain central to this effort, combining tradition with innovation,” Tara McCarthy, Alltech global vice president of ESG (environmental, social and governance), said. “Alltech is proud to partner with producers in optimizing productivity, profitability and resilience while advancing sustainability. This balance is critical if we are to deliver impact at scale, and the 2025 Alltech Sustainability Report shares examples of how Alltech is working with farmers and others across the agri-food chain to achieve it.”
Key sustainability achievements described in the report include:
Environmental impact and operational sustainability
- Energy efficiency and emissions reduction: Since setting its ambitious GHG reduction targets, Alltech has completed 47 energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, reducing emissions by 15,837 metric tons (mt) of CO₂e annually. In 2025 alone, the company invested $2.72 million, completing 13 renewable energy projects that cut more than 3,000 mt CO₂e per year.
- Zero-waste milestones: Alltech expanded its zero-waste-to-landfill practices, reaching a total of seven facilities in 2025.
- Water stewardship: Water recycled or reused increased by more than 55%, driven by targeted operational changes and improved identification of reuse streams.
Science and industry leadership
- Science and impact: In 2025, 43 peer-reviewed studies linked to Alltech platforms demonstrated that improved nutrient utilization, biological resilience, and feed and crop management can deliver significant productivity and sustainability gains.
- Expanding LCAs: Alltech processed 73 life cycle assessment (LCA) requests across the agri-food supply chain, supporting sustainability insights across species and production stages.
- Facilitating important conversations: Over the course of 2025, World Without Cows, a documentary written, directed and filmed by Alltech team members and award-winning journalists Michelle Michael and Brandon Whitworth, was screened more than 250 times across 36 countries. The film highlights the role of cattle in a thriving planet and cultivates important conversations about how we do so sustainably. At COP30, Alltech also unveiled World Without Cows Brazil: The Battle for Balance. This companion film to World Without Cows elevates rancher perspectives from a region that’s central to global discussions about livestock, land use and deforestation.
Global recognition and certifications
- Recognition: In 2025, Alltech earned platinum EcoVadis medals at Alltech Coppens in the Netherlands, the Alltech Woolfox facility in the U.K. and Dunboyne, Ireland, Alltech’s European Headquarter and bioscience center, and silver medals at Alltech Global and Alltech PDMM (Vietnam). Additional milestones included FAMI-QS accreditation in Mexico and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Standard certifications for Alltech Coppens and Alltech Fennoaqua.
Community engagement
- Donating to worthy causes: In 2025, the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation provided $396,199 in funding for worthy causes around the world.
Our team
- Workforce diversity and engagement: Alltech employs more than 5,300 people across 72 nationalities and 59 native languages, reflecting a highly diverse global team.

“We believe our industry has the capacity not only to meet today’s challenges, but to help shape a healthier, more abundant future for the planet we all share,” Lyons said. “That belief is captured in our purpose of ‘Working Together for a Planet of Plenty.’ This purpose reflects how we think about progress — not as a single outcome, but as a balance of three interconnected priorities: providing nutrition for all, replenishing our planet’s natural resources, and revitalizing local economies. Progress in one depends on progress in all.”
