RALEIGH, N.C. — In early June at the NC State University Club in Raleigh, the North Carolina Poultry Federation honored the life and legacy of Richard L. Simpson with his posthumous induction into the N.C. Poultry Hall of Fame.

With this induction, the federation is recognizing Simpson’s lifetime of leadership, service, and lasting impact on the poultry and egg industry.

This award was established to honor members of the North Carolina poultry industry whose contributions leave a lasting impact on the poultry industry, NCPF said in a statement. The award’s nominated individuals have consistently shown dedication, leadership, and endless effort in shaping their success and the success of the entire industry.

Simpson’s roots are deep in the New Salem community, and, with those roots, he built on the legacy his grandfather started in 1925 by leading Simpson’s Eggs in Monroe, N.C., with the necessary vision and care.

Under his guidance, the family business grew into a trusted name in the industry and remains a proud fourth-generation farm, an enduring testament to Richard’s commitment to stewardship and sustainability, NCPF noted.

Simpson has influenced much more than his own operation. His decades of leadership at the state and national levels have shaped the future of the industry with his practical wisdom, innovation, and authentic passion for serving others.

“Richard Simpson stands among the very best of them — not just for what he accomplished, but for how he accomplished it: with integrity, kindness, and quiet strength,” Elisa Maloberti of the American Egg Board said. “He was a good man — steady, kind, principled, and genuinely devoted to the people and the work he believed in.”

The induction of Mr. Richard L. Simpson into the North Carolina Poultry Federation’s Poultry Hall of Fame stands as a testament not only to his professional accomplishments but to a life lived in service to others, guided by faith, humility, and deep commitment to faith, family, and community, NCPF added.
