Virginia governor adds to calls for ethanol waiver

WASHINGTON — In a letter sent Aug. 27, Governor Bob McDonnell (R-Va.)  petitioned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to grant a waiver from the ethanol quotas mandated by the federal Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS).

In a show of support for the Virginia governor, the National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation, and the Virginia Poultry Federation offered their praise for McDonnell's petition.

"We commend Governor McDonnell, and all the states' congressional delegates, for supporting jobs in rural Virginia by requesting this waiver from the EPA," said Joel Brandenberger, president of National Turkey Federation. "It is time for the EPA. . .
