USDA’s final rule defines future of organic poultry

WASHINGTON — There are several terms used to describe foods that have unclear definitions, but organic is no longer one of them. The USDA is clarifying the factors that go into growing and processing poultry and livestock.

The organic sector in agriculture has been a growing one as consumers become more aware of what goes into their food and the assumed health benefits of foods grown organically. Producers who want to take advantage of this inclining market will have to meet new space requirements, ethical processing techniques and feed restrictions. . .
