The government may be temporarily shut down but there are no days off for the USDA, including Secretary Sonny Perdue who announced an outlined list of responsibilities the organization will continue working on.
“USDA is committed to safeguarding life and property through the critical services we provide.” Perdue said in a press release. Those services include tasks from the inspecting food products under the Food and Safety Inspection Service to assisting territories such as Puerto Rico through the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
In relation to the poultry and meat industries, imports will be monitored and inspected to ensure no disease. . .
