WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has named R. Alexander Acosta, a Florida law school dean and former Justice Department attorney, to lead the Labor Department.
Acosta is dean of the Florida International University law school and has served on the National Labor Relations Board and as a federal prosecutor in Florida. He was named assistant attorney general for civil rights by President George W. Bush.
Acosta was chosen a day after fast-food executive Andrew Puzder withdrew his nomination for labor after losing support among Republican senators.
If confirmed, Acosta would be the first Hispanic member of Trump. . .
