Railroad industry working toward increased safety measures

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The nation’s railroads have been in the news a lot in recent months from potential strikes to dangerous crashes. The rails are essential to keeping products on the shelves and several updates have been happening with rail suppliers.

There’s been a lot of focus on improving rail safety following the Feb. 3 Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, which caused the release of approximately 1 million gallons of toxic chemicals into the surrounding area’s soil, water, and air.
