WASHINGTON — Poultry industry associations applauded the announcement by U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk that the U.S. would initiate dispute settlement proceedings against India before the World Trade Organization to challenge that country's ban on the import of U.S. poultry..
The USA Poultry & Egg Export Council, National Chicken Couuncil and National Turkey Federation noted that India has used a variety of non-tariff trade barriers to deny U.S. poultry access to the Indian market.
