Ozark Mountain Poultry reopens Arkansas plant

BATESVILLE, Ark. — Ozark Mountain Poultry has reopened a former Pilgrim's Pride chicken processing plant in Batesville.

The plant will employ about 250 people and Ozark Mountain says that number is expected to grow when production expands.

The company produces approximately 1.5 million pounds of anitbiotic-free chicken every week for restaurants and its consumer brand, Forester Farmer’s Market.

With the new capacity at the Batesville operation the company will double its weekly production to approximately 3 million pounds.

Pilgrim's Pride announced in August it intended to stop work at the plant. . .
