OSHA cites Case Farms for safety violations

WASHINGTON — Case Farms' chicken processing facility in Winesburg, Ohio, has been cited by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration for two repeat and one other-than-serious safety violations.

The agency has proposed penalties of $23,000.

OSHA opened an investigation at the Winesburg facility in October 2015 to evaluate record-keeping and employee exposure to campylobacter bacteria following a referral from another government agency.

OSHA cited Case Farms for failure to:

  • Complete an OSHA 301 form for each recordable injury or illness.
  • Record an injury or illness within seven calendar days of occurrence.
