EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — Norfolk Southern Corp. has announced that the company has reached a $600 million settlement in regard to the 2023 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. The court has not yet permitted this settlement, however, if approved it will cover any class action demands within a 20-mile radius of the derailment. Also, it will cover any personal injuries of residents of who wish to participate within a 10-mile radius.
In a statement, the railroad company said, “this agreement does not include or constitute any admission of liability, wrongdoing, or fault.”
