Renee Woods of Conifer, Colo., won the first round of Purina Poultry’s first ever Flock-Tober Fresh Egg Face-off Contest. The title of “Most Colorful Farm Fresh Eggs” was awarded to her and her several breeds of chickens on Oct. 13.
Her winning entry displayed 11 of her most colorful eggs and talked about her different breeds of chickens which include White Leghorn, Buff Orpington, Easter Egger and Plymouth Barred Rock.
“I have the very best ladies,” Renee said. “They provide for us and help us donate dozens of eggs every week to help feed the homeless in Denver.”
More than 250 people entered the contest and Renee’s winning entry received more than 275 votes on Purina Poultry’s Facebook page. Nearly 2,000 people participated in voting for the final round of Miss Flock-Tober 2017, Purina Poultry’s bird competition.
The next two rounds will follow the same format on Facebook. The second round, The Most Useful Eggs, has already begun and the entry with the most likes will be announced by Purnia Poultry the winner on Oct. 19.
