KFC soars into summer with Supergirl-inspired offerings

PLANO, Texas — “Look … up in the sky … it’s KFC chicken!”

The famed secret 11 herbs and spices won’t be anyone’s Kryptonite, as The Colonel is pairing up this summer with the superheroes and introducing some products inspired by the anticipated new Supergirl movie from DC Studios. Among the items, beginning June 8, will be a new KFC Supergirl Ultimate Meal, a Supergirl Combo Meal, and a trio of character sauces.

Also, for the first time in more than two decades, KFC will be offering limited-edition collectibles featuring Supergirl movie characters, as well as an even more limited Krypto Collectible Bucket.

“KFC and Supergirl both show up bold, fearless and a little extra — so this partnership was built to break through,” Melissa Cash, KFC chief marketing officer, said in the announcement. “We’re turning the summer blockbuster ritual into a full fried chicken experience. Whether you’re Team Supergirl, Team Lobo or just here for the tenders, box meal meets the box office this summer in the most finger lickin’ good way.”

The Ultimate Meal will include three tenders or eight nuggets, all three new sauces, a biscuit, one side, a 21-ounce Kryptonian Kooler drink, and one blind bag character collectible. The Combo Meal will include, again, a choice of three tenders or eight nuggets, all three new sauces, a biscuit, one side and a regular fountain drink choice.

The three new sauces will be: Supergirl’s Solar Honey Mustard; Ruthye’s Sweet Chili Revenge; and Lobo’s Wild Ranch.

For the superfan of Supergirl, starting on June 10, KFC is offering a very limited-edition chicken bucket, the Krypto Collectible Bucket. This upgrade based on Supergirl’s canine companion will be $29.99 and sold in participating KFC restaurants across the nation, while supplies last.

Pictures co-head of Global Motion Picture Marketing, said. “From their inspired menu creations to the must-have Krypto collectible bucket, KFC is delivering a one-of-a-kind experience that lets fans engage with the Supergirl galaxy in a way only they can!”
