ROSE HILL, N.C. — Since last March, House of Raeford Farms has provided $120,000 to non-profit organizations through partnerships supporting its consumer truckload and preorder chicken sales. These relationships are continuing into 2021 as the company continues to offer fresh chicken to the public via online sales.
Partner organizations provide parking space for the truck at pickup locations, and often arrange volunteers to load customer vehicles. Churches, schools, volunteer fire departments, athletic programs, and others receive a percentage of the sales depending on their level of involvement. During November and December, the nationally recognized Marine Toys for Tots Foundation benefitted from a series of events in eastern North Carolina, the company said.
The community truckload sales originally started as a way to offer low-cost chicken to the public when poultry was in short supply in retail stores.
“It also helped House of Raeford support their farmers and employees by continuing production as sales decreased when restaurants and other foodservice outlets closed due to coronavirus safeguards,” said Bob Johnson, CEO of House of Raeford. “It has been a blessing to hear consumers express appreciation of the company’s outreach to communities across the southeast. This certainly reinforces the mission of House of Raeford.”
