MAYSVILLE, Ga. — The poultry industry is a significant part of northeast Georgia’s landscape, with Mark Love’s Maysville farm among the more than 4,000 family-owned poultry farms in the state.
About 47 miles away in Elbert County, a January outbreak of Avian Influenza (AI) marked the fifth and sixth cases in Georgia since 2022.
“It was really scary for all of us, and folks up there, they’re probably doing the same thing I’m doing,” Love shared. “You can’t pick and choose where it comes.”
