What is Newcastles Disease?

According to the USDA’s Agriculture Research Service (ARS), Newcastles disease (END) is an avian paramyxovirus type 1, varying in virulence. The low virulence (lentogenic) strains are not reported and are commonly used to create vaccines. Moderately virulent strains (mesogenic) are reportable to the World Organization of Animal Health and occurrence of END can have monumental impacts on international trade.
