GEORGETOWN, Del. — The Delmarva Poultry Industry Inc. has presented achievement awards to Jeff Smith of Perdue and Maryland Sen. Jim Mathias.
Smith received the Edward H. Ralph DPI Medal of Achievement. Smith, director of environmental services fore Perdue Inc. and previously with Mountaire Farms, is immediate past chairman of the DPI Environmental committee.
Mathias received the DPI Medal of Achievement for an elected official in recognition of his support for the chicken industry and the farming community. His efforts included work to help growers deal with chicken houses damaged by a blizzard, helping slow down or stop proposed phosphorus management. . .
