Corn yields are being forecast at record numbers

WASHINGTON — Higher yields of corn are giving the grain record high projections from the USDA.

In its November "Feed Outlook," the USDA's Economic Research Service noted that the 2016/2017 corn yield projection was 1.9 bushels to 175.3 bushels per acre from the October forecast, which amounts to a 168 million bushel gain to 15.2 billion bushels, and that corn supply is at 17 billion bushels, which is a record.

"Corn stocks are projected the highest since 1987/1988 at 2.4 billion bushels. . .
