WASHINGTON — Schmalz's European Provisions of Springfield, N.J., is recalling approximately 8,424 pounds of chicken and apple sausage that may contain small pieces of plastic, the USDA's Food Safety & Inspection Service has announced.
The product is 12-ounce vacuum packages of "Applegate Organics Chicken and Apple Sausage" with "Use or Freeze By 03/17/13" on each package.
The recalled product bears the establishment number "P-5411" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced on Jan. 24, 2013, and were sold in retail stores nationwide and through limited Internet sales in New Jersey. . .
